Program description |
This bilingual elementary school welcomes children aged 6 to 13 years, besides having activities like teaching English and basic subjects such as math, science, etc., it organizes art workshops so that the children develop comprehensively. The goal for this school’s teaching methods is for the children to be open- minded, that they develop a critical mind and are individuals with a social conscience. It encourages participation, discussion of ideas and learning to listen to others.
The school needs volunteers who speak native English to help the teachers in giving classes.

The kids are brilliant and I don´t really mind all the questions. I feel very comfortable with all the tasks that I have been asked to do, particularly helping some of the older kids prepare for their high school English exams and reading stories to the younger ones. I don´t think I have taught them much English but I feel since I arrived they have been more confident in trying to speak English and they always want to practice it with me which I think is a really good thing.
